About Civil War Reenacting

Q. How expensive is it & what do I need to get started?

Whenever one decides to take a quality interest that differs from the mainstream, there are always unique requirements for special equipment. Remember that the goal, in this case, is to recreate the appearance of a person from another era that vanished  in the seas of time long ago. To create that illusion requires reproduction items that are usually of museum quality manufacture. Imagine going into the modern shop of a quality tailor to purchase a new outfit of clothing complete with shoes & accessories. Could one reasonably expect to pay chain department store prices & have a product that would last far beyond its more expensive counterpart of quality? In the case of soldiers, there is also military equipment to consider. Gear that is both rugged & functional is usually not synonymous with most products of today. So there it plain English...rather than look at the outlay as  expensive...look at it as an investment.

To get started will depend on the particular impression one chooses. Uniforms & complete basic gear currently total approximately $800.00 net for a Confederate sharpshooter.
