David L. Peace, the founder & president of "High Ground", is a Kentuckian & former Vietnam-Era U. S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant
who makes his home in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has been an avid follower of The Civil War since childhood, has been a Police Officer with the Indianapolis Police Department for 16 years, is a state certified
police instructor, & is currently assigned as a Field Training Officer patrolling the area of Camp Morton's former Confederate prisoner of war camp located just north of downtown Indianapolis. David is the
3rd great-grandson of Austin Gollaher of LaRue Co., Kentucky who was the best boyhood friend of President Abraham Lincoln & was credited with saving "Abe" from drowning in 1816. David currently
serves as Captain of the 30th Battalion, Virginia Sharpshooters, Co. A, C.S.A..
Vice-President William J. McGowen Jr., vice-president of "High Ground" currently makes his home in Hamilton County just north of Indianapolis. Bill has had an
interest in The Civil War for many years and is the 3rd great-grandson of Confederate General Samuel McGowan of South Carolina. Bill currently serves as 1st Lieutenant of the 30th Battalion, Virginia
Sharpshooters, Co. A, C.S.A..

secretary/treasurer of "High Ground", is an Indianapolis native. She is the receptionist with a large corporation in Indianapolis. An experienced civilian reenactor, Karen has an ardent interest in
antiques & The Civil War with primary focus on civilian involvement. Karen currently serves as Civilian Coordinator of the High Ground Civilian Corps. |
